| england lets face it after the 36 - 0 drubbing i think we did fantastic to reach the final, in the final we gave away silly penalties and narrowly missed out on a try and battled to the end , heads held high and at least we beat the aussies and the french paul

Maybe thats just because as im in amateur rugby and the society refs we get given often have the eyesight of moles or are somehow affiliated with an opposition team. One ref knew all the other team by first names lol... Matt Oh and i was dissapointed at the complete lack of tries too, dissapointing game for a final really but some really good kicking from the SA kicker. | The Pub Landlord would have a view.... People can stop going on about the dream of winning the cup or Hamilton becoming F1 championship. Dreams are what motivate and inspire us, leading us on to a brighter tomorrow. But we don't have to carry on dreaming..... because we're awake. Runner up in two world class events is hardly undistinguished. If you want real disappointment just wait for England to miss out on Euro 2008 and watch our athletes get blown into the weeds in Shanghai....not much chance of gold there either. |

| england aren't really a try team though. Their scores are almost guarenteed to be divisible by three Everyone went on at me last Saturday night when I said "It'll be a week of let downs for you english if Hamilton doesn't win tomorrow". I was shot down with "No he's British! F1 is a British sport!". Anyway my point... the media think he's done well (as he has!) otherwise they'd be calling him a British driver, so far all I've heard is 'english driver'. For once their happy so you should be too Well done to Hamilton!

| Gibes from the Celtic fringe..... On the matter of national pride, a couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of driving JPR Williams, an acknowledged rugby god and gold standard Welsh person. The guy is relaxed about his past achievements, they speak for themselves. The Welsh have produced some superb teams over the years, some great individual talents and their contribution to the Lions has been considerable. However, before mocking an England team that reached successive World Cup finals (not a common occurrence) it would behove the mocker to have a team that can do as well....currently.....as opposed to historically. |

| Nonetheless.... It is still good form to acknowledge the fringe contribution to the Lions. Good sportsmen should be recognised wherever they come from, bearing in mind that this can sometimes affect their international reputation. George Best never got the chance to strut his stuff in a major international simply because N. Ireland couldn't field a competitive side. The main thing is to remember it is sport, not life and death despite the hysteria of some pundits. |
