| My rants - pedestrians and freaking muppet housemates phew been getting steadily more and more annoyed with blooming pedestrians, i cycling to and from work everyday and you would think people have more brains but now they own the pavement (rightly so), combined bike + pedestrians = pedestrians only and apparently the cycle paths and the roads are also owned by people walking. the amount of idiots on the nice cycle paths, which are generally parallel to footpaths, what do they do? walk on the freaking cycle path! probably so they get their fat arses onto the wider track (true for some) then when they see you coming on the cycle path? what do they do? a) stop b) walk right and left constantly so you have no idea how to avoid them. a) when they stop, they are also generally walking on the wrong side, so with oncoming cyclist on the right lane, generally i am miraculously supposed to jump the tall pavements whilst try not to hit the traffic lights and the other pedestrians on the footpath so as to avoid colliding with them. FFS, if you sidestepped over the small pavement/barrier thing onto the footpath = job done. i really dont understand why people like walking on cycle paths when loads of bikes are going back and forth and they either act suprised when we brake like maniacs to avoid them or get cross with us or just ignore everything. plus on the roads, if you aint a car or bus, its alright to cross the road and block the cyclist then yell at them for not stopping when its blatantly a green light and cyclist right of way. lastly my bloomin housemate whom i ranted on the other day about leaving the freezer door open and therefore spoiling all my food. they agreed and blamed it on another housemate who was away and joined in my rant. 20mns later what do i find? the freaking freezer door open. "oh sorry was me" no shit sherlock. come back from work today? what has happened? she has left the freezer door open overnight. now everything has melted into a pile of crap. to top it off, i have moved all my stuff to the new freezer to stop this from happening. since its generally the other freezer where my other ditsy housemate leaves open. now i just lost loads of nice seafood i had in the freezer great people but i have no idea how some people can be so so clueless sometimes, this is after we all almost died when she left the gas on for ~6hrs , then did it again a few weeks later, followed by burning stuff over the hob overnight, open front doors, etc. |

| I feel just a strongly about retarded, ignorant colourblinded cyclists that don't understand what a red light, or a pedestrian crossing is, or think that as a cyclist the same laws don't apply to them. Even better when they then remonstrate for you nearly sending them to the big spandex city in the sky. Just waiting for the day one runs a red light and hits me. No offence like

| DING DING !!!!! Witnessed some car drivers acting in the same manner !! Only trouble is , a ton or so of metal being driven at speed carelessly does far more damage !! Anyway bikes, horses and pedestrian's were here first !! There are some divers that could do with a warning bell fitting !! Yah boo sucks,,,,,

| cunningly i do have a bell, but i fail to see the logic of why i would have to ring my bell when i am on the cycle lane? especially when there is a nice footpath that goes parallel along the canal for pedestrians? Big cycling signs on the path and nice signs make it very obvious, bikes here and the nice big walking man on the other side = guess what? it would be same as saying its the responsibility of the newer silent cars have to honk pedestrians off the road I do admit I have ran a red light before when i was in a rush, which I know was wrong.i've never seen anyone cycle over a pedestiran crossing before? nor would i even think of doing that. heck i dont even cycle that fast and alot of commuters that cycle in as well dont cane it (being sweaty at work is not cool), with the odd exception road racers. the whole point of using the cycling lanes is to avoid cars and pedestrians. therefore removing the problems associated with cyclists from motorists pedestrians point of view. but it doesnt work if people walk along it. note: bells/sounds/shouts sometimes dont work on some people as they waddle along nicely, its usually funny when their partners then get embarassed and drag them off the road/cycle path. right off to pubs |

| To the anti-cycle ranters...... we are not all like that. Same as not all drivers are slow old codgers or boy racers. So don't tar us all with the same brush. I ride my bike to work at least 3 days a week and use my bike for all short journeys and I stop at red lights and obey the same rules that I do when driving. But it also annoys me when pedestrians walk on the cycling lane and then swear at me if I ring my bell or shout "excuse me". Admittedly, some say "sorry" and some are polite but most give me dirty looks or worse. And remember, we are trying to stay fit and reduce exhaust emissions in the atmosphere so don't dismiss us all as eeejits. We're not. Now I feel better too. It's nice to have a bit of a rant now and then. I thank you.
