| It depends if they have admitted liability or not. With my last one, the bloke who hit me admitted liability and it got settled in a few weeks; with the one before, it took a few months as that one was a joint liability (I think otherwise, but no witnesses

| Did they breathalise her? Not that it makes any difference to your claim, but it would be kind of hard to deny liability if she was pissed. I think the length of tiem it takes will come down to your insurers. Hope you get it sorted soon.

| Speak to your insurance company - if she has admitted liability AND you have her insurance details, your company may offer you a loan vehicle - the cost of which they will claim back from her company. If she blames the hedgehog Good luck - you can't go long without a dive wagon!!! Di

| I don't think she can dispute liability as she was stuck in the middle of the road with her near side front wheel missing and the car body sitting on the road. She was breath tested but was under although she'd had a drink. The police were pretty prompt and had to stay until recovery came as the road was blocked...not even enough room for the police Range Rover to " Drag It" Her two passengers that tried to push it out of the way were sent home...in the rain on foot..

| Sorry to hear about this - at least she is insured. My Mums parked car got ploughed into by an idiot screaming up our hill - he wiped off the back end of her car, went THROUGH our neighbour's garden wall and the car ended up half way into his front sitting room !!! Two kids in the back - no seatbelts (I heard the crash and immediately went out to help, as I would with my job...). Bloke nochanlantly gets out of car, won't make eye contact - no remorse - just sets about making sure that his golf clubs were removed from the boot and a quick call to the missus to come and pick them up ....hmmmmm Anyway, turns out its not his car, he's not insured and has no driving license. The police measure the breaking marks in the road - all 10 metres of them - (its a built up 30mph) and he's breathalised - clear. Mum pays her excess (£200) and claims to get the repairs done from her insurance company. Meanwhile, she tries to take this guy to court to get her expenses back. This is where the fun starts. he's given police a false address. They eventually track him down - he's never in. They hand deliver a court summons. He ignores it. They summon him again - but he's not in. A year later and Mum is still chasing this up - only to be told that as it has taken over a year to fail to get him into court - the time span has lapsed and she cannot claim her money back. So Mum is £200 down, without a car for 2 weeks and HE gets - er, nothing. Police told us that he has previous for writing off cars. A month ago, Mum sees him driving yet another car in Tescos - what caught her eye was the fact that he lobbed a beer can out of the window as he drove off. Sorry for the rant - but that story brought it all back. I bet if I went round there and broke his legs, the police would have me straight away !!!! I really hope you get yours sorted soon - keep the pressure on and keep nagging, or it will just get forgotten about. Things like this always happen just before Christmas - called the law of sod, I believe........ |
