Northern Rock: rocking on?

I've just registered; not even got to the intro forum like Shirley ...or JAY (sorry mate, i dont know you and you sent me a nice welcoming email!) told me to, and i'm faced with the attempted dissection of the Northern Rock situation !! Hmmmm, anyway, off to some interesting articles!

Surprisingly enough I did mean 'pier' rather than peer. It was meant as a casual nod at the salt water supremacists(!!) but evidently missed the mark (even the MarkP, one might say)

As to being 'ganged up on', you can't hear me complaining. As to ignoring you, how could one, it would be like kicking the Andrex puppy. You light up the forum with your scintillating and coruscating prose, your lucid contribution to any debate. It is a privilege to hear your views sir. And now I must go and find some cream for that opprobrium, itches like a bas*ard.....

I know you say you're ignoring me, but if you by chance see this, any pressure you feel has been brought on all by yourself. When you first started posting as captainnemo everybody respected your views, whether they agreed with them or not. Since then, many people have come to believe that you're (still) a bit of a knob, hence the opprobium you've attracted.

Keith, if you are who I think you are, it's still all your own doing. You don't need us. Well done.

Nothing to apologise for, why would one take offence at the sort of innocuous comments that appear on forums. Robust debate requires robust opinions and the vocabulary to express them. Anyone who can use words like opprobrium (correct spelling an' all, coo!) cannot be dismissed as insignificant, however hard they might strive to appear so...

Kemo, a suggestion that might help you: I know you're having trouble sleeping but if you want to make yourself appear a little less like a sad obsessive, try watching 24 hour shopping or news channels instead of posting. Even all-night radio shows will welcome your contributions and make you feel valued.

Actually, that wasn’t fair; I value your contributions as we appear to provide each other with gentle, harmless amusement. It’s a bit of a shame, as at first I considered you an interesting contributor I could argue with, yet now you’re simply like a squeaky toy. I expect I’ll get bored soon, but for now you’ll do.

I suspect that this post may generate some sympathy for you (or at least make me look like a complete dick) but up to now I think you’ll note that the vast majority of posters seem to share my view. Indeed, it wasn’t even me who rumbled who you are / were, as I don’t have that level of interest in you. People have even compared you with the inimitable Bruciebabe / Peripatetic, which is quite something, as he could irritate the ants out of pants, but he mainly spoke knowledgeably about diving, something you don’t seem keen or able to do.

I respectfully – oh, who am I kidding, there’s no respect – suggest that when you say somebody’s on your ignore list you mean it. Otherwise people might just think you’re full of hot air…
