| as far as i know the GSM signals are encrypted. so its not that easy. its a spoof IMHO if i put the remote against my vehicle's wheels would i have a mobile interceptor? If i use the four wheels would i get more signal strenght ? lud |

| If I remember my GSM training from about 8-9 years ago, GSM signals are encrypted using a rotating key sequence defined at the call handshake... unless you have the whole handshake sequence, even if you break one encryption, it is only a matter of seconds until the encryption is changed, and you would have to start again... This is based on a patent developed by an Actress during the 2nd World War, initially designed to prevent the enemy changing the tracking on torpedos after they have been fired! Andrew Andrew |

| Yeah its crap. The USA does have a lot of analogue phone still and you can listen to that with any radio scanner and so on but even they're slowly going digital. GSM now can be cracked pretty much immediately but not without kit costing £50k+. The encryption has been broken but not to the extent anyone can do it with household or consumer gear.

| They are taking the p***. First they short the battery on a remote, connect that to both wires of a microphone, shorting that out too, and then stick it in a wok. You may as well go the whole hog and stir-fry it for all the good it is going to do. |
