Loss of Military Life - 2 hours on the front page then relegated

The BBC website is the same as other 24 hour news outlets, stories come and go. It's the same on here, threads move down when new threads are started.

The top story there now is the problems at the tax office, in an hour or so it will be something else.

Think that is a bit rough on Fiona. The way I read her post is that the lost cd story is a very important one that should be on the beebs front page, doesn't mean the soldiers death post isn't important. As to news importance yes the CD case is extrememly important.
The case of the soldiers poor recognition for their work is irrelevant to the original posting. The post is between the covering of news of two deaths, tragic as they are the CD story is very important and grave to the confidence of the government.
I agree that the public don't recognise the importance of what the armend forces do and that is shameful.

OK the way i read it was those few Cd's are more important than a soldiers life perhaps i might have got it wrong

there are countless things soldiers do every day not just Iraq but Bosnia, Rwanda, Kenya Belize etc and many more countries around the world. this is done because they are sent there by the same incompetent government that lost the Cd's however they honour there obligation and do what they do day in and day out. they dont just resign and get paid off.

we see a few properly 5% of the casualty's that are coming home from these places and the ones that do make it back safe will never think about life the same way.

they probably are if some scrote gets hold of the details of somebody who relies on the benefits and diverts them benefits to themselves. who will pay for the f*ck up if this happens, yes thats right me and you the good old british taxpayer thats who and what does that mean wthout raising taxes etc- it means cuts across the board, can the military afford less money than it has now to provide proper kevlar vests, boots that don't fall apart in the heat, proper armouring on troop carriers, proper maintenance on ageing planes that should have been retired in the early nioneties which crash and kill more servicemen and women.

I think you are taking this a bit far. Nobody has lost any money yet and I just can't see it costing millions. Admittedly it's a poor do, but to me it doesn't even compare to the deaths of servicemen. At the moment, as usual, it just seems to be getting blown out of proportion and causing unneccesary panic.
