| I really don't think there is that much interest here about the American elections its just that with 24 hr News they are desperate to fill it with some crap. I just farted and there is a knock at the door - well I didn't actually but they say it doesn't matter as long as I think I did and they will supply the photos :-o)

| Theres got to be some interest in the Yank Elections in the UK. Otherwise how will the BBC be able to justify sending 52 reporters and camermen on all expenses paid Jollys funded from the Licence fee - No wonder they havent got much money left to make interesting programs any more |

| I'm going, as per usual, to go against the flow here and say that I actually find the whole thing quite interesting. It's no good spending half your time on here, as some do, moaning about Bush et al and then claiming complete disinterest in his replacement - whoever it is will have a profound impact on the world in which we live for the next 4 to 8 years, so how can it be boring? And "Leader of the Free World"? Yes, I'd go along with that, ..........whether one likes it or not, the fact is that amongst the representative democracies in the world, the USA carries more clout by far than any of the others, both militarily and economically, so in that sense, the USA is the leading power. At the end of the day, in most things, if the USA decides not to get involved, then things don't happen. The Iranians aren't scared to kidnap and humiliate British sailors but do you reckon they'd risk kidnapping Americans again? Contrast the eventual outcome in Bosnia & Kosovo where the USA eventually took an active interest, with what's happening in Darfur, Zimbabwe and previously, Rwanda where they aren't/didn't. The EU has done f_ck all anywhere in the world, despite the much vaunted EU Army they've been rabbiting on about, or whatever it is and don't even mention the UN.
