Alcohol in Schools ?

The best of it is that I pay for it :- it's a private school !

Also I do sympathise with teachers & heads as my mother & my aunt were both teachers & both became heads of department so have seen it from that side as well .( And yes both taught at my school )

The legal minimum age to drink alcohol is 5 (five).

I think that a quiet word with the teacher / head may be the best approach. Going in too heavily is likely to be counter productive - mind you it would be a change for pupils (please, they are not students) being on the same side as the teachers for once!

No, its an offence to sell to anyone under 18 unless that person is 16 or 17 and it is being consumed in conjunction with a meal.

I think the 5 years bit relates to consumption at home.

Anyone under 18 years of age commits an offence if they buy or try to buy alcohol or is supplied with it in a club.
It is also an offence for anyone to buy or try to buy, or have alcohol supplied to him, on behalf of a child - in other words it's an offence for someone to buy alcohol intending to give it to a child, for example one waiting outside an off-licence or supermarket
It's illegal for anyone under 18 years of age to consume alcohol on relevant premises and for anyone (such as bar staff) who have authority to stop them, not to do so. The only exception is where persons aged 16 or 17 are having a table meal in the company of someone aged 18 or over who can then buy beer, cider or wine for the younger persons to drink with their meal.

You may be right, however, i would question a website which has this at the top..

UK Licensing laws have changed. The Licensing Act 2003 came into force in November 2005. I applies slightly differently in England and Scotald. The main features are explained below
