Asked for that and was told I was not entitled to it! they would provide it to the court if requested. the unit had a stamp on it showing it was in need of calibration on 8th March 2008.

Nor was I entitled to know what the unit serial number was

Nor was I entitled to know if the unit had been calibrated at the start of the shift as required by there std operating manual

Personally I just think they had a anti bike day. I was as nice as pie and minding my p's and q's until they picked up the booking sheet and started filling it it.

I would let it go to court and have a very good solicitor.

I got caught with a lazer near blackpool and when the NIP came through to work it said the vehicle was a red toyota instead of a grey escort van. I took it to court and it got thrown out.

if the code is wrong it stands a good chance of geting thrown out on a technicality.

pepipoo.com is full of advice for this sort of thing

Not sure why they woould not show you the serial number as this makes no bid deal at all. In relation to the certficate of calibration then yes they dont have to show you it on the day it just needs to be produced at court. There is no such thing as a daily calibration certificate, it will be calibrated daily ie distance checked between two fixed points at the station but this will most likely be recorded in the officers notebook that it was working okay but the only certificate is the yearly calibration which is issued by the company who do the check.

Would i be correct in assuming that it was on th efirst nice day (for a bike) this year?
If so i say the words - "then it begins..."

More Crap News (MCN) has alot of info on this sort of thing.

If i remember correctly (probably not but hey) was there not a problem with the laser guns in relation to motorbikes? Like reading a stationary fireblade at over 30mph???

Do your homework on this one. Ask alot of questions...
last year they pulled over 40bikes at once in newcastle (co Down) and did every roadside test possible... tickets for nearly everyone!!! BASSDRINKERS!!!

Advice given to me by a friend when i spoke to him about this....
and for some reason he knows an awful lot about this kind of thing... :P

"He has the right to see all evidence before entering court. If he asks for a copy of the calibration certifcate they HAVE to produce it. If they dont its called withholding evidence. He also has the right to see the officers training certificate for useing the gun.

I would fight this one tooth and nail. There is no way that he could track the bike within two seconds and hes obviously got the car behind and not him. He needs to go out and photograhp the place and get a map sorted top show how futile the coppers are..."

Best of luck to ya!
