Being as many advocate a "name and shame" policy and there is now another thread may I just say that ...

... if I enter transactions with people on YD be it buying, selling, meeting for a dive ... I try to ensure an exchange of telephone numbers.
PMs and emails are a non-real time form of communication with no gaurentee of receipt, storage or understanding and I really don't think we can rely on them as complete communication.

I know this is a technological age etc but we are actually human beings and if we can't talk to each other and end up hiding behind, easily misinterpreted text, there is little hope

Just my 2p worth, and advice

If someone is going to sell or book a trip/course, then they should give their full name and address and reliable contact details. As its not fair on the person booking it who may end up brunting the cost, if I have to cancel or backout for some reason, I will get someone to take my place or pay in full, and not leave others in the sh*te.

My 2p... fwiw.

Life is too short to distrust everyone and everything, I tend to assume the best of people and obviously I occasionally get caught out, but to my mind it's easier that way than assuming everyone is out to rip me off.

I have bought and/or borrowed stuff from fellow YDers and arranged trips all with practically no problems, on one occasion I was slow returning a piece of kit that I'd borrowed (sorry Scubee), on another I lent a piece of kit which I've never seen back, oh and I still owe Shiney D a few quid, just haven't seen him to pay him yet . But the vast majority of people I have dealt with make trusting people easy.
For me the trick is to not risk more than I can afford to lose, that way if it goes wrong I won't lose sleep over it.

Oh and this isn't an invitation to scammers... I'm not a complete muppet all the time.

And your point is what exactly?

simple fact ,you booked 2 spaces for 2 days on one of my trips made no attempt to fill those spaces when you backed out , or pay the outstanding £140 under the terms laid out on YD.

you then went to ground for 4 months managed to remove yer name from the members list and ignored all pms .

Surely if you're running a business, you have your own terms and conditions, contracts etc. Why would YD standard practice for trip organisers have anything to do with it?

Unless you're trying to run your business on the cheap that is.
