You really have to laff at this nobber

Perhaps this should be in the eco section, but I didn't want it to be too serious or I'd get annoyed. Our wondrous leader, the man that wishes to tarmac over the South East and build a thousand new airports is worried about the environment at long last. So in response to the Daily Mail, Britain's own voice of reason, he's gonna get tough. Yup he's right behind granny's favourite shop the ailing M&S. Gordon's there buying his Y fronts with the other old folk. And you know what? He don't want no plastic bag dude. (I assume he has one of those wheeled shopping carts with a little Yorkshire Terrier tied to it, the ones that run over your feet and bruise your shins - the cart not the terrier)

BBC NEWS | UK | UK Politics | PM warns stores over carrier bags

Go get em; Gordon (Swampy) Brown. No more witches knickers.....

Whatever next? Prescott in a Smart Car? (Tyre levers at the ready boys )

Its not funny really but it made me laugh this morning.

Chris

Aldi and Lidl charged for bags for years. Aldi sources a lot of their veg locally (about 1/2 the veg farms near me sell to Aldi). Yet no-one praises them.

Oh that's right... middle class voters don't shop there...

Strange then that you link to the BBC website and not dailymail.co.uk. I read the daily mail and never really notice that they have any particulare grudge against plastic bags. If it is mentioned in their paper somewhere then I'm sure they are just reporting yet another photo shoot gimmick from our ridiculous govenrnment.

In the same way that you never fly can we assume that you never purchse goods sold in no-biodegradable packaging?

Paul

Aldi's too far away. I'm a Lidl man.

The Daily Mail even provide a free Eco bag to each reader or 3 for £3.50

I've been rather into all this since i watched a report/documentary some time ago about how Leatherback Turtles around the UK are killed by mistaking plastic bags for Jellyfish

its not so much the use of the bags but the correct disposal.

if people were educated into disposing of them properly then the problem would be a whole lot less.

we re-use bags 10 times at least before they fall apart and then they get recycled properly by the council ( YD fleeces were probably made from the recycled bags) we do not and have never just dumped em into the street.
