Your problem with that being?

Arguments over the death penalty are a waste of effort, as, under current legislation it will never be brought back to the statute books.

I would however of recommended that the likes of Shipman, west, huntley et al should of had/have their hands and feet nailed to a wall to prevent them from topping themselves, until such time as they have accounted for all of their past actions. Shipman and West left far too many unanswered questions, in my view these people have no right to silence after conviction(ok West was on remand).

Punishment does not come into the argument, the victims are owed answers, that is the only debt left to pay.

Let them rot after that.

I'd have no issue with that. In fact im all for every prison cell coming with a handy rope and hook.

a fine point well made sir.

that and the Armed forces don't want chav scum.

executing people where its beyond reasonable doubt i.e. Huntley, well thats exactly what they want, the early release from the rest of their lives behind bars being punished for thwe crimes they committed.

sounds fair to me, break the law get punished for it. It is never right to takle a life even if the other has taken one first.

well the true way of capital punishment would be to make them serve 30 years and then to give the main punish ment .

this would make every day a day closer to the end and the only thing to look 4ward to would be what they are givin in the showers .

ya gota preaty mouth boy .

Killing people is either wrong or it isnt, if we feel as a society that it isnt then perhaps its wrong of us to kill others.
I think prison does need reform though, and it certainly shouldnt be privatised. But if there was a definite punishment phase of a sentance where no amount of good behaviour got you out early followed by a rehabilitation phase in a different institution people might understand the process better.
In NI we have a ridiculous situation where everyone gets 50% remission - ie if you behave then 50% of your sentance doesnt count. I dont see the point of this. If you behave in prison and have gone some lengths to prepare yourself for life outside then you should be allowed the privilege of freedom after the term of your sentance has passed. If youve been a prick inside then the sentance should be extended.

just bring in chain gangs and have them sweeping up the moterway and if a big truck cleaves a load of them out of it ...well so be it.
As a society we are either Ideologically opposed to the death penalty or end up being like china, Thailand, The US or many of the Arab states and others.

il think about it.
