Re the thread,i see no reason why kids shouldn't be 'encouraged'to swear allegiance.

In effect it is swearing loyalty to the country,not an individual,why no encourage a bit of patriotism for once,make a change i think.

I'm sure they won't be beaten if they decide not to.
