| I bet the people that sold him his house when he retired into the area laughed all the way to the bank. When you move into a new area always always always carry out decent research into the area and what the noise, floods, etc are like - you can even ask people in the pub / shops etc. Did I say you should do that every time? Yep - the man is a NIMBY. I bet they were there first. |

| We operate a light aircraft (De Havilland Twin Otter) and fly surveys at low altitude (56m in UK, but 30m elsewhere). My job is to deal with people like these. Our aircraft is silent compared with a helicopter, yet we constantly get people trying it on with insurance claims. When we were working in an unspecified part of the UK I took a call from a farmer "hello, are you with that aircraft" ; "yes sir" ; "my cows, they've just been artificially inseminated....." I really wanted to say "for f' sake, we've been accused of allsorts, but that just too far fetched" When I grew up in Swindon the sound of the Hercules going over all day every day was just part of life. When I then moved to Liverpool I found it too quiet! Rob

| my old farm in cambridgeshire was a WP for the F15 squadron at RAF Lakenheath, and i bloody love machines that go twice the speed of sound, and dog fight above you house!. Many an hour sat in the garden watching the dog fights between F15/F18 and also the low bombing runs of teh A10s and C130 spectre gunships. That bloke has no idea about noise levels of aircraft. Especially when an F15 flys over you house at 500 feet chasing an A10 that is ground hugging!
