That is somewhat different. It is adviseable to take pictures of the damage/wreckage WHEN THE PATIENTS HAVE GONE - for insurance reasons. Ambulance crews are also permitted to take photos of the damaged vehicle so that they may show the mechanism to the doctors at the hospital - it helps with treatment.
But I can't see how someone taking pictures of our lady (who had got herself out of the car and then developed neck and back pain and was sat on the verge) and not the vehicle can be right ??
I don't think it can ever be acceptable to take pictures of people undergoing treatment at the roadside - just because 'you can'.

Many moons ago when I was in service I could have written a book of the unbelievable things some members of the public did, nicking tools from the wagon while we were fighting fires, one guy actually poked his head in the car to try and see a casualty when we were cutting her out, bystanders running into a pub that was on fire and running back out with whatever they could carry, and one guy who parked at night blocking the entrance to the station while reading a book, he could see nothing wrong as he would start his car and move when the appliance bay doors opened apparently of course that was in the days before everyone carried a phone......and the powers that be were less PC

Thanks for the contribution you and your colleagues make to our society.......not Paramedic Paul obviously and don't let the b'stards grind you down.

Safe diving,
Steve

I agree this guy is sick but what I do find interesting is that the police did not react more strongley, recently the police in Hull stopped a photographer taking pictures of shoppers in Hull city centre, seem to remember they arrested him will look back through local press and see if I can confirm it.

Too much political correctness protecting people today, this guy is quite simply a maggot & my first reaction is that he should have simply been twa*ted but then you are the one to lose out.

Where are we heading to????

Err no. What a twattish statement. There was nothing protecting anyone. The person being treated was unprotected. In France this would have been illegal and the camera/phone confiscated by the Police. UK law was designed to protect property not people.

Bit of weakness from the copper, I fear.

Why didn't he consider that the guy had 'abandoned' his car on the road, possibly unlocked, engine running etc? Could certainly have asked him to return to the vehicle, maybe do a thorough check, documents, tyres etc? Could certainly have 'distracted' him long enough and made his time a bit uncomfortable.

Not having a go at Police (I was one), so I know what I'd have done!

i also work part time as a paramedic and am soon to join the dublin fire brigade .

about 5 r 6 months ago i was called to a scene of a fatal road traffic collision . at the time i was working on the person who eventually died in hospital . the scene was horiffic and the smell got to me after a while . i got sick and there was a photo taken by a local news crew . the police officer "garda" removed the camera from the jurno and asked him 2 delete it or he would be done for some possibly made up offence .

also about 2 r 3 months ago another RTA the person of 1 car pushed me to one side as i was putting a neck brace on a patient . to get a photo fro her insurance company of ho bad she had hurt the other driver .

its a mad world . im 6'1" and have a 2nd dan black belt in full contact kempo (have won a few big competions )and my god do i wish i could use it somtimes
