a) Quite difficult to hit the things you are aiming at;

b) Almost as difficult to avoid hitting the things you aren't aiming at. I once managed to hit a flock of sheep sleeping peacefully 200m downrange of the targets I was actually trying to hit on a field range, a 10 round burst hit 6 of them. There are many cases of innocent civies getting whacked by stray rounds from firefights many hundreds of metres away, this is nothing new.

That said, it would be a terrible thing to do, even if it was an accident, it would be hard to live with yourself afterwards.
I bet you had a hell of a barbie afterwards though did you "accidently" shoot out the tyres of that passing truck full of fosters?

No, I was in a world of sh!t, the OiC Prac took it very personal because of all the paperwork he had to do. And these were knackered broken mouthed old wethers - the bloody farmers deliberately graze them on the range in the hopes of a high velocity bullet wound because if one gets slotted, they get over $50 for it, compared with 50c at the bonemeal factory.

And Fosters - Eurgh - I reckon they'd be pretty safe. Nobody here drinks that rubbish.

They wont do that again

I have been through the suez canal about twenty times on large ships, i have never seen a small boat selling things like fags, who wants Egyptian fags when we have bonds on board the ships, but every time we went through the canal we were boarded during the night and cargo was stolen, and containers opened. These guys in the boats were probably pirates, which still carrys the death penelty, and is not romantic and in fact is very dangerous for the crews of cargo ships.
