Royal Mail

... are shit.

I'm waiting for a package which I have a Track & Trace number for. So, naively, I entered the number thinking I'd be able to see where it was in the void that is the Royal Mail.

"items are only tracked AFTER the item has been delivered"

Now, I admit I don't like the Royal Mail so I might be being picky but I don't really see that as being a particularly handy feature.

Yet another useless service.

They aren't always. I posted a little package up to South Shields and it got there the next day.

Mind you, I didn't pay for any additional services, which might be the problem.

I refer the hon gentleman to a previous post of mine which states that (and I have just checked on the website again) I have had my dry suit back from repair but the Postoffice still have it recorded as awaiting collection. It was insured for £700 and I sooo want to claim for the loss but I know its fraud.

At the risk of being fair to Royal Mail :

Quote:
Track & Trace is a Royal Mail service that lets you check the status of a trackable item that you sent through the post. The following services can be tracked:

for items sent within the UK:
You also get a reference number if you send an item Recorded Signed For. This gives you:

Proof of posting
Signature on delivery
Online confirmation of delivery
Up to £34 compensation

Well I've always hated all the Royal males. Charles and the kids and that twat the duke of windsor bloke.

This does however seem to be a thread about the Post Office - which is something different.

Clearly in respect of the Post Office we can see how commercialisation and competition of the UK mail delivery service are having the desired effect

Sounds like Recorded Delivery, the item is only logged once it has been signed for. Sounds fair enough to me, you could always use Special Delivery. I use the Royal Mail regularly, 2-3 packages a week and a mix of Special and Recorded, and have had no problems what-so-ever.

I must admit I always use Special Delivery now regardless of what I send I know it will be there before 1pm the next day or I get my money back even if its late by a couple of minutes and its automatically insured for £500 which is usually ample coverage.

Have even had occasions when I have sent something on a Friday and been told it will be there Monday and find out it gets delivered on the Sat cant beat that really...

Actually it's a thread about Royal Mail (the letters and packages business of Royal Mail Group) which is something different from Post Office Ltd (a separate company within and part of the Royal Mail Group that runs 14,300 Post Office® branches across the country)

Until quite recently I was sending out about 100 parcels a month and over a three year period only 1 or 2 failed to turn up and they was the customer's fault (wrong address). If it is clearly labelled and well packed that really does help.
