| I think that I agree with Howard, the more mature one that is. A few years ago I remember the piss taking and AND getting fed up with it. He put a thread up that he was going to leave and everyone said sorry. Later he became a Mod and the DIR forum was formed. The only place that I was aware prior to that was Quest. As DIR/GUE gained in popularity I noticed that some new DIR acolytes started beating their chests. They were mostly people who were either booked on their fundies or who had done the fundies and not really "trained" in the full system. The internet has certainly helped in the promotion of GUE, GI3 was very vocal and caused many a spat which did get GUE publicity and you know what they say "no publicity is bad publicity" The spats on YD became a regular feature DIR and anti DIR and then the other forum DIRX (i think it's called) was launched. This enabled the DIR/GUE community to have their own forum and enable them to control what is posted to a large degree. GUE are a very small minority, I think that Clare posted the numbers on the "why" thread. GUE represent a fraction of the diving population. Howver, I think that many of the prolific posters on YD are proponents of DIR/GUE and if you look at the representation on the Mods then it isn't proportional to ratio of DIR/GUE and non DIR/GUE. I don't know the exact ratio but I can only think of Steve S who isn't pro DIR/GUE. (I don't include the owners here) I'm grateful to the Mods, it's not a task that I would welcome but sometimes they wave the banner a little too often and their bias shows. This post isn't aimed at anyone nor is it intended to provoke an argument. It's my view and my opinion. You're entitled to yours as I am to mine.

| YD is one big love in anyway. We all love each other really. It just gets a bit like a school playground sometimes. We either have fun or we bicker. Sometimes it seems like folk are saying "I've got bigger, shinier toys than you and I am cleverer and always right". I'm sure they are not saying that exactly, but it does come accross like that. Other times we just get silly and arse about. Unless someone has a major dummy spit and leaves we generally all hug and make up. I love a lively debate but keep your sense of humour eh?
