No I've been placatory, I've got what I wanted and my kids are both in the Sixth form there which is a small community, no point in raisng their profile in the wrong way.

Although their email reply to me was titled Diving Goggles... which nearly got a strong response lol.

I am not defending the school - your comments were reasonable - but when we all started at this diving game we probably all called them goggles and flippers. I was also ignorant of the cost of said "goggles".

Oh how this have changed and I am now too well aware of their cost. The eldest will be starting diving in a couple of years and so I am going to have to start saving for that now - I am not sure if I am happy or sad about this.

I should have insisted that they bring the kit back to my house but I didn't, they were just as likely to use the stuff while they were at their mum's so why bother. Equally I don't let my ex know what I earn, it's easier that way, nor do I tell her how much I spend on the kids for similar "quiet life" reasons. She doesn't dive and probably the closest she get's to masks, snorkels etc is seeing the plastic beach stuff priced up at £3.50 for a set, she certainly wouldn't have expected the true costs involved. Believe me when I tell you that if you have ever been tempted to down play the cost of your kit when talking to your wife, it's even more sensitive where an ex is concerned. So whilst I am not happy with kids or Ex, the people I'm mostly angry with is the School. The value is immaterial, it's about acting responsibly and with respect.
tough call. Master Scubee oftern wants to take stuff from my house to his dad's house. fair enough, they are his things, but it irritates the hell out of me if said objects then remain at his dad's, particularly, as i have just discovered, both his camera and his ipod have not found their way back here for the school holidays.
