Hmmmmmm....I thought it was the other way around when you look at who's in charge!

Whenever I hear a politician speak these days, it seems to be with a Scottish accent.

No, well, yes, but I think there is an official document that may be obtained that stops an Englishman abroad in Scotland being hated and verbally/physically abused?

Having said that, the Welsh (that I met) were the most vociferous in their obvious dislike of the English, far in excess of the Scots (apart from those at Stromness). FFS, I couldn't remember the name Stromness, I had to look it up!
Cursed grey mush!

I think you are correct. The English are a much put down race these days. Were it not for our gobby, tattoed, football shirted drunken holiday types then I don't think anyone would fear us anymore?

Celebrity culture is greatly responsible for the ruination of this country. Somebody bring back Winnie!

I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone. Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the Old.

Funny thing is, being English, there's always an undercurrent of being disliked & ressented, anywhere you go in the world. The way I look at it is that I'm above that, what's the point in resenting people places you've never heard of and frankly, don't give a shit about?

And if there's one thing that's worse than being disliked, it's not being noticed, so think yourself lucky.

Yes, well, I wouldn't mind being 'noticed' so much if I were a bit bigger and more threatening; anyone will pick on me! Having long hair also makes me stand out a bit.

All I can say is "it's a good job I'm devilishly handsome, very amiable and pleasant."

Oh, and modest too.
