I got a different email recently from an american friend. It shows pictures of muslims marching in London with slogans saying things like "kill all non believers", "kill white people", etc.

The point to the email was a pro war one, and went something like "why do we fight for these peoples freedom when all they want is to take ours away". I agree with the email.

I agree with the OPs email as well.

I live in an area where Somali moved in 10 years ago. Since then there has been nothing but trouble with drug dealing and gun problems. Add to that the fact the area is almost rat ridden due to way they fling food all over the place. They harrass white and black people, in particular the women, who get called bitches and whores on the street (have witnessed it many times now, my sister was verbally abused by a gang of them). The police do nothing. If it continues i can see a lot of my area and the surrounding areas doing something about it since our system of law seems to be unable to do so.

What can you do? Well you can cut all their benefits off for starters. I wish they'd bring hanging back. At least then when they murder someone, someone can return the favour.

Chris, Are you suggesting that Tescos are illegally evading tax. If you have any evidence for this you should contact HMRC. I'll get 'er indoors to give you a call shall I? . Arranging your affairs such that you legally pay a minimum of tax is entirely within the law and one reason why tax accountants are highly paid (gits). You were self employed at one time were you not? I'm sure your accountant did the same for you.

Incidentally, Tesco paid £351m tax on profits of £1,289m, so just over 27%. How much do you think they should have paid?

It doesn't bother me, we shop at ASDA so all our money goes to the US

And those with the posters, at least the people who were whipping up the crowd were investigated and, IIRC put through due process. There was an embarrassing hiatus as the police on the ground were unsure what they should do, so the investigation took place after the event. The police's delayed action did leave them looking pretty silly on that occasion, but it was part and parcel of freedom of speech.

Look at it from, say, an Iraqi's point of view: most were living a stable life under a(n unspeakable dictator), but their lives were stable none the less. We were part of the invasion of Iraq which, according to you, was to fight for their freedom. I suspect many Iraqis weren't quite as sure of the reason as you are. I'm very, very glad I don't live there, as the "freedom" we brought them doesn't appear very attractive.

No, they're avoiding it by off-shoring some of their property dealings. Legal and within the spirit of big business, but not the spirit of the law.

Tesco is currently suing the Grauniad, who ran it as a front page story.

The problem that all the "kill all dole scroungers" brigade miss is that big business tax avoidance and evasion costs the country about £42 billion per annum. Yet the government chooses to chase the tabloid fodder that cheats the country of less than a billion each year.

Strange that newspapers are so anti low-level fraud, yet generally happy to praise big corporations who pay accountancy companies like Anderson huge fees to advise them how to avoid paying their dues. I wonder why.

Having worked in Islamic countries for many years I can tell you that their radicalisation happened before mine by a long chalk.

Why don't you try something really radical? Try speaking to brown people. Some can even speak English and be good company.

Been speaking to, working and living with brown and black people for a long time now and if you think I'm a racist you should ask my ex-wife why I married her - she does speak pretty good English, is good company (lovely woman actually) and as black as ones proverbial hat.

I paused to do a very brief bit of research with a couple of young (compared to me) Asians; both the Sikh and the Hindu didn't take long to come to the conlusion that a caliphate wasn't for them. But then it's so hard to tell these foreigners apart -they all look so similar.

Nice side-step matey but Sikhs and Hindus, Buddhists and Catholics aren't the ones walking into tube stations or onto planes with IED's about their person.

I have personally seen and helped Iraqi refugees (only one week after 9/11 happened) who risked their lives to escape in open boats across the Med. To see those souls who had been adrift for days was a humbling sight. To then see the Tunisian navy take them from us to be re-patriated to a Saddam welcoming party was hearbreaking. Those people were desparate for help and so were thousands more in Iraq, it may have been a f*ck-up to invade - I/we didn't make that call - but people needed help.

I'm sorry but this is not a real option. It is not something that will happen or is being discussed or wanted by more than perhaps about 5 people world-wide. I know it makes nice headlines in shit "newspapers" [sic] like the Mail but its about as likely as Tony Blair saying sorry for lying.

Religious fundamentalism is a problem, I agree. In fact religion is a problem IMO. However, those that choose to believe they are governed by some non existent thingie in some unspecified place that has no ability to communicate with us are really the least of my concerns. What is happening is that age-old situation in which inadequate and stupid people are skapegoating some other group of people for their self made problems. This has always happened and always will. Its probably best ignored and left to sort itself out over time. For sure demonising any one religious group in particular will simply alienate those of its members that are particularly stupid and inadequate and encourage them to be even more anti-social or worse.

There is a real and rising need to discuss Immigration in the country. However, until the dick wads on both sides of the debate stop screaming "THEIR ALL COMING TO KILL US!!!!!!!!" or "YOUR ALL RACIST SCUM" it ain't never going to happen.

For every one of you out there who has such strong views about the way the country is run that you can opt to only hear the views you know as right and dismiss/attack those which are so obviously the product of guardian/daily mail propaganda ask your self one question. If the answers to the problems are so blinding obvious why are you not in the government or leading the charge down Whitehall?

Possibly because its all a little bit more complicated and difficult than you might think?
