| About 27 years ago, I was coming out of a turn on a country road in Cheshire which had limited visibility. As I pulled away as fast as I could this car came screaming around the bend and nearly ran into my back end - I was doing 50 by this time. He swung passed me and pulled right across in front of me such that I had to brake violently and almost ran into him. By the time I had recovered, he had leapt out of his car, pulled my door open and punched me violently in the side of the face. He then slammed the door shut and smashed his knee as hard as he could into my door panel, expecting to cave it in. Unfortunately for him, it was a Saab 99, one of the first cars to be fitted with side impact protection bars! There was a loud howl and he collapsed into the road screaming and holding his knee at which point, I reversed rapidly and drove off! |

| In hindsight the bird probably didn't help matters, but hindsight is a marvellous thing! And like I said I believe he'd have done the same if I had or hadn't. The whole thing went on for about 25 mins, and I gave him the bird after about 3 mins and he continued with the bullying and aggression. I think I will pursue it. It's just when you're there in the station you feel a little overwhelmed and I had no one to ask. Now if got you lot backing me up I'll have the strength to do it! I'll call them tomorrow to do it formally! As long as I can keep this bravado up!!! Cheers for the thoughts and support! ![]()

| I'd have thought they'd have something on CCTV. The amount they have aroudn you'd think they could drag something up. |

| He did say the M40 does have them in places but it's not run by the police. Because at the time I said a telling off would be enough it wasn't taken further, but if I go for the jugular then I guess they may investigate it. It's a bit scary really! But the next time he could kill someone. Still can't really believe how aggressive he was when it was his fault in the first place. He really thought he had right of way and didn't want to slow down for the lorry.

| Sorry to hear about your experience last week - upon reflection I think I would be asking the police to investigate and make an arrest. As you say if this action stops some other poor person going through the experience do it - hope all goes well :-)

| Hi Julie, can I be forgiven for saying the right thing followed by the wrong thing followed by the right thing? I'm agreeing with everything said above, and that you should take it further. This guys a firken menace and shoould have a thought or two shoved up his arse. That said, I'd only really say this to someone I knew - but hey you're on YD and so that counts - IF you could see he was needing to pull out to overtake the truck, why not just hold back a bit and flash your lights at him to let him know its safe to do so? OR just hold back a bit till he's made his mind up. Its the safe and intelligent thing to do. But this is also after the event, and we dont always do or think of what we wished we might have...... But fusk him, he needs nailing, and your our girl. We dont want to hear of any of us driven off the road by vengefull loonys. Go clip his wings! Best of luck in the morning, and dont hold back. By the way, some of the many coppers on here will probably comment, but I am not sure he would be arrested. The police would probably interview him under caution (not arrest) and it would end up in the 'his word against mine' situation mentioned earlier - although maybe they retain motorway CCTV footage, at least for a minimum period of time, or maybe they only record when there is something interesting or there wouldn't by any 'Police Camera Action'. | well i have to sympathise with you, having travelled both the A34 and M40 i can really understand what you went through. The M40 is little more than a race track for high powered motors, many a time i've been passed a warp factor 10 by a car flashing its lights and the last thing you want to do is get in their way as you'll suddently be convinced they hitched up to your bumper for a free tow. i'd get the police to persue the chap even f he gets a talking too at least it may, in some vain hope, cause him to think about his driving. failing that get baseball bat in the car, get the guy to pull over then go all "Rodney King" on him, you can claim diminished responisibiltiy in court cos you were protecting your child. |
