| They're doing it everywhere, Problem is we've now got to the stage we can't go into substations at night on our own just in case we run into some of these guys. There have been a couple of incidents where they have got what they deserve and happen to cut into a live 11000v cable!! There was a grid site that had a load of copper earthing nicked the scrap value was about £30,000 the cost to replace it was £132,000!

| Scrap metal theft is big at the moment because of the high prices. We've had substation earth rods nicked, lead ripped from schools and dwelling houses, derelict flats broken in to and copper piping ripped from the walls.... you name it. We nicked two smackheads last month who were caught ripping lead flashing from a house while the occupants slept. They told me that they're getting £1200 per ton from scrappies.. |

| we are getting loads nicked from the gas compounds on our sites. The engineers now carry spare earthing bars as van stock! Worse still we have to close the whole forecourt (inc petrol & derv) whilst its replaced. result= pi%$ed off general manager & pi*&ed off motorists. Thieving pikey scum |
