Guess how much per litre for diesel? £1.34 For that price i want Orlando Bloom nekkid working behind the counter! Now i know Grangemouth is shut for strike action, but £1.34 for a litre of diesel just isnt funny when all the fuel for Orkney comes from Liverpool by boat. Dont get me started on red diesel either, cos that had more than doubled too

And breathe
OMG I was just shocked that i had to pay £1.20 a litre. Puts it into perspective!

I agree the prices of petrol etc are getting excessive, but one thing to consider on the bio-fuels issue, they are not as green as first thought.

Much of the crops grown for the fuel are grown in deforested areas in poorer countries of the world, large areas of the primeforests of Borneo-Malysia and large parts of South America are being heavilly cut down to ease the coincience of the western world. as well as habitat removal for wildlife, these forests absorb a lot of CO2 and the disturbance of the soils releases more traped CO2 and methane.

And there is the food price issue as mentioned by BJ. If farmers are growing bio-fuel there not growing food.

All fuel prices will keep going up and up. That's the reality of what is happening. The pound is falling due to the realisation (at last) by the finance sector that the UK balance of payment deficit and indebtedness is like the US and so the UK economy must follow suit.

Bio fuel is not the answer and it will not drive down prices. Only falling demand has that ability and that is unlikely unless we get a full on recession with job losses and stuff.

Current highest estimates are £1.50 by October.

So folks buy a more fuel efficient car now. Good for the environment good for the pocket

100% Bo Diesel has lower emisions than LPG

Diesel = 2.63 KG CO2/Litre

Petrol = 2.30 KG CO2/Litre

LPG = 1.49 KG CO2/Litre

Natural gas = 2.65 KG CO2/KG

100% Biodiesel (B100) = 1.07 KG CO2/Litre

Bio diesel can be made from recycled vegtable oil that is presently being dumped.

You can make up to 2500ltrs of bio diesel per year tax free for about 65p a ltr using virgin oil so a saving 53p/ltr and £1325 in the process. If you use S?H oil you need to wash and filter it but the costper ltr goes down to about 30p. So a saving of £2200 a year.

The kit to make bio diesel is about £900

Veg oil is bio diesel and I cant convert my car to LPG because its new and the conversion would invalidate the warrente.
