| I have heard tell that if you were so inclined that if you drill a long wide hole into the tree pointing down and pour in bleach and then plug the hole with mud / dirt then the tree would go white and die. It is illegal of course. Copper nails are, I think, an urban myth. Unless they are attached to a chain saw. Anyway - you can cut the tree on your side of the boundary with impunity and it won't be worth his time / money suing you anyway. Could you "fertilise" the tree with sofnolime? |

| Contact your loal Planning Office cause there is laws against trees causing problems. Was introduced to combat neighbours who plant leyalndii and then leave them to grow out of control. Extract from my local authority planning website Planning - high hedges -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part 8 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 which gives local authorities powers to deal with complaints about high hedges came into force on 1 June 2005. What the service is for A means of resolving disputes over high hedges where loss of light to gardens or windows is alleged. Provided you have tried and exhausted all other avenues for resolving your hedge dispute, you can bring your complaint about a neighbours evergreen hedge to the district council. We will then decide whether the hedge is adversely affecting your reasonable enjoyment of your property and if so, we can issue a formal notice setting out what must be done to remedy the problem. We cannot, though require the hedge to be removed (only reduced in height) and therefore cannot guarantee access to uninterrupted light. The cost of an investigation of a high hedge complaint is £320 (50% discount if in receipt of state pension).
