Jobsworths.

What's happening in Britain these days?

Just read this in the Torygraph and was amazed, even more so that the jobsworths manager at the Council didn't withdraw the infringement notice. If one of our staff did something like this, the notice would be pulled straight away and he/she'd more than likely be pulled to one side and "counselled".

When sh!t like this happens, they can't seriously claim to be undertaking "law enforcement"......it's just revenue raising, pure & simple.

If working for a Council now means being expected to behave like that - then yes, very probably. The fact is that at times, we all have to enforce legislation, guidelines, decisions or stop people from doing things/make them do things, the whys and wherefores of which are a mystery to the average punter, particularly in areas like Planning etc but that sort of mindless shit goes beyond the pale; the measure of a good law enforcer is the ability to know when to turn a blind eye and old ladies asleep in a cars with an upside down Disabled Stickers is probably a very good place to start.

Well I for one applaud wholeheartedly the actions of this brave traffic warden. To singlehandedly face up to such hardened criminals as this malingering benefit scrounger who was clearly well enough to get out of bed and thoughtless enough to allow the traffic warden to risk getting a cricked neck. It's about time more councils followed the pioneering example set by the one mentioned and would certainly vote for any council who brought back burning at the stake for not allowing buses to pull out and crucifixion for looking at lollypop ladies in a funny way.

Well... in some councils, the employees are paid less than bugger all (minimum wage, more or less) because things like this have been contracted out to keep costs down. As they have targets to meet, they encourage the wardens to issue tickets by paying them commission.

Is it any wonder things like this happen?

I would like to know what reason they gave for not over turning it though.

The article suggests that the individual actually entitled to the parking permit stayed in the car.

I would suggest that this was abuse of the permit - the other two travellers were not personally entitled to a parkng permit, and since they were the only people getting out of the car, then they did not require a disabled space.

disabled spaces are there to facilitate the participation of the less able, not their able bodied partners/friends/family.
