BSAC Membership Cards

Found out why mine hasn't arrived.

They've lost my direct debit mandate, with all my bank details, and now say my membership has lapsed - so not covered by insurance...theirs and of course my own!!!

I think there was some offer for setting up a mandate, so I guess losing it is the easiest way for them to save a bit of dosh.

Are there any agency's out there who want my money??

Maybe they should rebrand as BSA tight fisted bunch of wan...

That would be BSATFBOW, can't see that on a tee shirt.

If the dd doesn't work, Better Send Another Cheque

Good luck

Paul, my understanding is that if you rejoin inside a year of the lapsed membership then they just carry it on from your previous date - so your insurance isn't affected.

At our club we have had it the other way round - someone wanting to rejoin after a lapse of membership only getting 8 months - when queried with BSAC they said the norm is to do this way for exactly the reason of continuing insurance cover unless the membership secretary stipulates otherwise.

cheers Steven

What he said, and if you've stopped recieving that wonderful mag just tell them and after renewal they will send you the back issues

I set up the DD last year and recieved the waterproof note pad, it went through this year without a hitch but obviously with no freebie.

Safe diving,
Steve

Hang on.
BSAC qualifications aren't dependant on membership any more are they?
I thought that silly wording was dropped a couple of years ago.
How does that affect your own insurance?

My cards say it is, that's the only reason I take out direct membership! If it's not I needn't bother next year

BSAC membership is required for BSAC insurance.

You can of course insure with another company that does not require BSAC membership.

What about your diving qualifications, is my advanced diver card still valid if my membership lapses?

Membership as a requirement of continued qualification stopped a few years back.

You may be right, or...

I'd rather not have to contest the point either personnally or a family member as I'm sure the legal professionals would be wringing their hands with glee.

-Paul

PS I'm still extrememly worried that my bank details along with my signature have gone walk about (makes the BSAC as bad in my book as the British Government)

pps I'm also pissed off that the BSAC are claiming that my membership has lapsed - if they'd processed the forms it wouldn't have. Oh and before anyone starts, the delay in getting cards through has always been lengthy, so I didn't think anything was up - so I didn't question it until they sent me the nasty letter...
