    Angry Mikes Divestore Upminster Essex.....boooo

I don't usually post here... but here goes.

Silly little things make for good customer service....

I took my Buddy down to the LDS to spend some of his hard earned on some decent dive kit...

He bought a lovely VR3 C3 from the Mikes at Upminster stand and paid the going rate... I think it was about £680..

Now the battery has gone flat... obviously they don't last for ever... so off he goes to put a new one in... and no key. The little plastic 2 pin key you get with a shiney new VR3...

So no problem... he still has his receipt in the box.... oh I say.. give them a call, I'm sure they'll send you one...

How wrong was I... " No.. you've left it to long".... " we won't give you one, but we;ll sell you one..."

£13... that little key is. I think its a pretty poor show that a big shop can't solve something as easy as this...they should have sent him one, no question... and a call to DeltaP, would have had a replacement sent no worries I'm sure...

So Mikes at Upminster....thats crap customer service from a genuine customer....and I'll be sending you this link too...
    Are we having fun yet....?

£13 for a load of future spending from that customer. And gaining £13 for the cost of hundreds of pounds that local divers reading this will cost you. It didn't even cost you £13. Foolish.

Poor show. Maybe reading this they will realise how unreasonable they are being, apologise and send him one FOC with a smile. There can be a happy ending, we've seen dive centres step up and hands up tell us they got it wrong and come out smelling of roses.

    Digs.

Even a 'bring it down and we'll change the battery for you' may have been a option for them? That way the customer feels they are getting something, and the shop gets you back in the door! (You telling me you wouldn't spend a few quid while waiting???)

Not very clever from the shops point of view IMO.

He did get a free soft padded pouch with his VR3.... funny thing was, he got a phone call a couple of days after he'd got home asking if he'd found anything else inside the pouch.....

Apparently one of the shop staff had given away an O2 analizer which the'd put in a pouch for safe keeping..

And no... he didn't have the lucky pouch.

I used to frequent a store that lost my business after I went in to buy a reel and was told to come back another time as the owner was busy watching cricket.

Never been back since. Shame really, as I liked it there, and had spent a lot of money there over time. Now another place gets my hard earned green.

There is a dive shop close to us who did cylinder testing and as our old location had shut down we put a couple in for test after opening them up and having a look The Club used to do all this stuff itself years ago.

Well they came back 1 at just slightly above what we expected the other cost a fortune 'cos apparently it was very bad this one we had a good look at before it went and it was fine, it cost with all the cleaning and testing nearly as much as buying a new cylinder at a show

So they did not get the business from our 80 or so cylinders.

The cylinder was also mine and after a bit of a go at the owner and one of his knob head staff/technicians we virtually stopped using them for everything. As i was also DO and teaching all our new divers most of them also never went in there for much. The other cylinder was the Club chairmans and they knew this full well, so they immediately pissed off the closest club 2 them and the largest one in the area.

    Crazy stuff.

To be fair this is NOT indicative of Mikes Divestores in general and it does surprise me that this has happened.

Mikes Divestores are franchises. Mike Calder is the Man and runs the empire from the Chiswick store in London. I have had some absolutely fantastic deals and service from him and could not recommend him highly enough. He even once took back a Dry Suit for repair, got it turned around in less than a week and sent it back to me at his expense. Thing was, HE had not been the store to sell it to me but instead it was Mikes in East Grinstead!! Fantastic service.

Drop him a link to this page as well - I am certain he will suggest ways that Upminster can "improve" customer service!!!

Thanks Snail... I've sent them the link. I realize that mistakes are made and in a very busy atmosphere like the LDS things happen. But I just think its a really poor show they couldn't have just sent him one.

He's not the type of guy to take the piss, and he wasn't asking for the world.

Shame....but hey ho... I'll post the reply when I get it.

So best be nice Mikes at Upminster.
