Moral Dilemmas

It seems that some of the busiest topics the past few days have been moral dilemmas brought about by diving and the interest is generates.

eg
Comments about divers' remains
Protected wrecks
The captive belugas

It seems a far cry from wanting to strap the kit on and dive like Jaques and Hans.

Are all pastimes such a minefield?

Try stamp collecting (fake ones, the use of paper, etc etc). Tiddlywinks (impacts of plastics on the environment, competition among children etc etc). Gardening (the use of peat in compost, non native species, pesticides etc etc).

Too many stupid polls.


Rant after rant on trivia.


All the hardcore people you really want to hear from are fed up and have gone elsewhere or don't post anymore.

As you say, it's a far cry from wanting to get in and get wet.

What hardcore people? Plenty of Keen people on here.

Most of us get in and dive anyway!

There are only so many posts you can do on the subject of diving before repeating yourself before repeating yourself before repeating yourself. Were it not for the occasional non diving interlude ..........

Perhaps Jay would put up a Hardcore section on YD for you? I'm not quite sure how to restrict the entry into that bit of the site. Perhaps we would only allowed in if we had been diving within the last week. That would be a bit mean though - for example, it wasn't my fault that Sunday's dive was called off due to the weather.

Have you been eating bitter pills ???

Sorry, maybe i was a bit harsh.

I didnt mean to be, but im sure we all enjoy, for instance, HelenM's jokes. Polls let us see the lighter side of things - hell 51 people voted on my latest offering.

I could understand if people were posting stuff in the wrong places all the time - but we have sections for non-diving posts, and that is what we put in there! Most of us have a life outside of diving.

As i said, YD is what we make it. Without us, it would cease to exist.

Or maybe people leave because they are told to go away if they don't like it here...rather than being asked to contribute to making it better? Seems to be a theme at the moment.
