I was running a lock making company in the Midlands until credit crunch. Had done for 12 yrs. Things were tight but head was above water - then The plc that owned us decided they didn't want to cover us through the downturn and decided to relocate our manufacturing to China. I let 48 really good people go in Feb. A team that had taken 6-7 years to train, build and refine. Criminal!
I was the MD - was out of work for 3 months from Feb and have had to take a 'consultancy' role to tide me over.
Mind you, its been crap in manufacturing for since I can remember - must be a culture shock for the rest of you to realise what its like
I bet the architects of the collapse did ok out of it all and are probably sat on yachts in the caribbean laughing up their sleeves at the rest of us.
The next whammy is 'what is your pension worth' because they are worthless now - thats for sure.

it had been on the cards for years +nothing was done to prevent it
+our banks were sold the usa debts that were garbage.
our banks should sue the ar5e off them for whoever assessed them as not garbage.
the govt has still done nothing to correct problems here.
bonus's still being given for people doing their jobs.......
