New Submatix user

Just saying Hi. Got a Submatix mCCR today and am in the process of ripping it to bits before I put it all back together again. First "dive" will be in the pool on Wednesday.

Cheers
Ian

I think I might be up at capers within the next month or so. I'll let you know when in case you wish to meet up.

Thumbs up Sub diving

PM me if you want to get in the water with the unit

I'm up for Cape Subby dives over the winter - I need to rack up some more hours

And, welcome to our (select) group :-)

Thanks Nick, and everyone else. I've now had a pool dive and am reasonably impressed with the unit. I borrowed an R22D sensor as I am having the others replaced (under warranty). I used a 45% nitrox dil (plus the O2 of course). Compared to the converted Drager Dolphin mCCR I have been using it's much lighter out of the water and also less buoyant in the water which is great. However, the WoB seemed very high to begin with and the ADV was chattering in operation. I mucked around for quite a while, trying to rearrange things but with no difference to the WoB. Right at the end of the session I had a look at the OPV. Because the Drager has no OPV and all loop venting is done through the mouth or nose I had the OPV up tight. I loosened it up a bit and the WoB improved. Loosened quite a lot the WoB was much improved and ascents were a delight (from all of 3m). The obvious conclusion is that I'm using the loop too full. Didn't have a chance then to try things out any more but keeping the loop volume lower should sort out the WoB.

It needs some breathing hose weights but that's easily fixed. Apart from the WoB business (which is me and not the machine) which I'm sure I'll get sorted, I'm very pleased.

As soon as I get the full compliment of sensors I'll arrange a trip to Capers.

It's got the electrics to attach one of the sensors to a VR3 which I dont have and dont really want to buy. I'm going to fit three sensors and keep the two Oxyscans plus fit a Shearwater to all three sensors. But that's a little way in the future.

Kind regards to you all.
Ian
