RNR - Diver Underwater Force Protection

Apologies if this has already be posted, have searched the forum and cannot find any reference to it.

The RNR (Royal Navy Reserve) established a Diving-section in 2007.
    http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/reserves...rce-protection

"Open to personnel who hold either a military, police or recognised civilian diving qualification (Minimum PADI OW or equivalent)...Entrants will be subject to a full Service diving medical and an assessment weekend prior to being admitted to the specialisation."

This is of course after basic RNR training, including several weekends with your local RNR unit and a two week course at HMS Raleigh (unless you have recenly left the Mob)

If anyone has an interest then contact your nearest Armed Forces Career Office.

Any general questions on fitness requirements etc please post into this thread.

Fitness requirement for Divers is higher than the standard RN requirements.

Diver Physical Fitness Test is 1.5 mile run as a squad in 15 minutes, followed immediately after by another 1.5 mile run individual best effort...you need to get in under 10m 30s. There then follows sit-ups (40 in 1 minute), dips (I think 12 needed) and pull-ups (again 12 I think) - these are aproximate as I think the requirement has changed slightly since I did the test.

bythesea is right in that basic fitness requirement for RNR basic training as stated in his/her post

TheRedDarren - Exactly, the RNR are the equivelant of the TA, but for the Navy.
