Airline Network Boo! British Airways Yay!

Hi folks,

I was supposed to fly out to the Far East yesterday but something came up at the last minute that I needed to sort out before I went. So I phoned the travel agents I booked the flight through (Airline Network www.netflights.com) to change the date. They told me they could only do it as a full cancellation which would mean forfeiting the fare except for the taxes so I figured I'd have to go anyway. Got to the airport and thinking it was a shot in the dark asked the guy on the BA desk how much it would cost to change the flight. He looked at me as if I was daft. Nothing, he said and made the change there and then.

I wasted three hours yesterday afternoon with Airline Neetwork, they were unhelpful and could have cost me a lot of money. I know BA have had some problems in how they treat customers but they couldn't have been better. If BA had a YD account, there would be a big greenie on the way to them. Boo to Airline Network!!!

Cheers,

Stuart

What?
The people who charged me over three times my return ticket price for half my body weight in excess baggage? EACH WAY?

Flying BA is preferable to having to swim I suppose but....

You think that's bad?

Don't mean to hijack the post, but the worst thing I ever had from an airline was with Virgin...

Returning home from a year at Uni in Illinois, I flew from Chicago to Newark... Upon landing at Newark, I realised I'd left my ticket from Virgin at my old apartment... Argh! So I sheepishly went up to the Virgin people and said "Hey, it's me! Look, there's my passport, and I'm on your flight roster, can you just reissue my ticket so I can go home?"

Imagine my horror when the Virgin lady said:

"No sir... you need to purchase a new ticket..."

"But, I have one, I just forgot it... I'm there... look! look! On the screen! That's me!"

"I'm sorry sir, we can't reissue or help you - you'll need to buy a new ticket or you will not travel today..."

Beginning to panic now, I realised I only had about $30 on me, and no credit on my credit card (I was a poor student for crying out loud!)... So, I had to ring my mum and she had to pay for another ticket for me with her credit card! It was either that or become one of New Yorks homeless bums...

To make matters worse, I got lumbered next to the aisle because the old couple next to me had boarded first and nicked my requested window seat, which meant I got constantly rammed by the Virgin stewardesses who probably couldn't see through the ten inches of make up they were wearing, and was constantly hassled by the old couple WHO WOULDN'T STAY SAT DOWN!!!!

Ok, need to go and lie down now... sorry about that folks...

Moral of the story... don't fly Virgin and don't forget your ticket!!!

Calski

shame about the way you were treated, I think the airlines will always screw the last penny out of you,

By the way I love your avator, it's one of the best i've seen

OK, bit of balance for BA, flew back with loads of xs luggage, they weighed only half and charged half the going rate as it was a fairly empty flight. Came to a fortune though, so they upgraded me and swiped us a bottle of 1st class champagne foc. Nice touch I thought.
Was 8 yrs ago though, maybe things change for the worse sometimes.

Flew alot with BA over the last couple of years mainly manchester to gatwick or manchester to zurich, With BA it depends on who's sat behind the desk on the day. Sometimes nice sometimes not - one week they let us grab the earlier friday shuttle ie 3pm instead of 5pm better for them as the 5pm is nearly allways full and they could more than likely sell the spare seats at a bigger price.
Next week allowed to do the same however blokey took the business lounge of the tickets
Week later told to forget it even tho the 3pm only had about 30 people on it.
Couldn't complain to work about loosing the business lounge as was supposed to be in the classroom until 4pm.
OH and if you get the nice cheap BA tickets of t'internet at the cheapest price - forget it they won't budge a millimetre on those ones.

Cheers
Jon

Don't get me started on BA...

Or I'll tell you about the exploding steak I had flying from New York... or the friend who's BA plane had to turn around and go back to New York two hours across the Atlantic!

Fantastic Airline!

Give me Singapore Airlines over the above anyday.

Or Emirates or Thai Airlines....

Singapore were superb both times I have used them, food was excellent (Normally I just starve!) and no quibble despite being slightly over the generous 30kg they gave us when we asked for extra.

I'd agree with you on Singapore!

Usually with veggie food on a flight, they forget, claim you never booked it, run out before they get to you because someone who hadn't booked it didn't fancy the meaty meal etc etc.

On Singapore you get to chose between about 5 different types of veggie food (western, Indian, Oriental, vegan, dairy-free..) get a sticker on your seat to confirm which type you are due and it was all lovely.

Throughout the 8 flights we have taken with them we have never had cause to complain.

Lou
