Recycle Bin

Hi, am running XP and whenever I log-off my recycle bin empties itself.

Is there anyway that this can be stopped? Seems strange as every other OS I've used has left it in the bin till u clear it.

Any suggestions?

Hmmm...

Isn't there an option where you de-select "auto delete"? Try right clicking on the bin icon, then selecting properties, then take a looksy there...

Hope that helps!

Tried that already, no option there. Only one is if you don't want files to go into the recycle bin but delete permanently (also some options as have hard drive partitioned)

It sounds like a policy setting rather than a standalone machine setting, have you played with any policy settings?
I could always be wrong of course

Do you have any non Microsoft Internet protection software running? Some of them have extended privacy options which clear your bin when you log out. Its also worth checking your bin properties (right click it and select properties) to check that the maximum size isn't set to 0% and checking that your local disk isn't out of space (bit of a long shot but its possible).

Ok I'm not on my machine as admin at the mo' but I'll have a look in a bit, if you want to look on yours (you're on your own) start -> run -> GPEDIT.MSC
Give me 10 mins and I'll check.
