    dsmb?

Isn't this the reason we carry them?

Assuming he isn't a diver and he was down with a guide... Isn't the reason they should have sent one up?

Still mentions oxygen tank, and the whole article has a ring of "made up" to me, not disputing the event happened, just the journalism.

Did you actually read the report?

Maurice – who lives with wife Rochelle and children Jake, 17, and Chelsey, 14 in Chadderton Drive, Whitefield - had been on an annual trip with friends from the Red Fins diving group. The pals, all experienced divers, were on the second day of a holiday and had chartered a boat to explore a coral reef.
They still mention 'Oxygen tanks' though.

But, why the fcuk was he surfacing under a boat? Dumb place to be.

There are some scary boat drivers out there. I've been dropped off from a rib, and they've put it into gear when I've still been very close. I'd love to see more (any!) prop guards out there.

We were told in no uncertain terms, 8mtrs was the safe depth, if e surface, we had to be next to the reef, any surfacing in open water, and we risk injury like this

Sadly it's true. I'm not sure of the details. I think the currents were strange or strong. I had friends on holiday who were out that day and underwater at the same time near the boat. They said the captain lost control of the boat. He was taken to court but they couldn't do anything because the poor man that was hit by the propellor didn't give a statement or something.
