Thats

1 confirmed dead.
2 possiably dead.
7 Divers potted.
shit loads of reports of diving in bad weather conditions.
2 dive boats assisted by the RNLI

In the past 72 hours.

Diving is a dangerous sport, it can affect the body in many ways, top training and armful of tickets DOESN'T make you immune to accidents.

It's not the WATER that is dangerous, it's the people on and in it.

Just for the record, VIOLENT seasickness CAN cause heart attacks. [quote = RAF SAR Winchman] .

I agree with Andy.

Also I'd like to add a note about complacency, and YES I ADMIT I'm one of the worst culprits.

But let's all take a look at our kit and our diving.

I don't want to see someone I care about on here because they couldn't be arsed to service their kit or because they thought it'd never happen to them.

When I heard about the JEL incident, I was surprised people were out in conditions a bit less than the forecast. I had decided the night before that I had better things to do than spend a day puking my guts out.

Diving is an important part of my life, but NOT THAT IMPORTANT.

The boat we were due to be on called our weekend trip off on the Friday.

I was surprise to learn that other boats had gone out. We have no idea whether the weather contributed to the accident but hearing reports of other people's experiences at Plymouth this weekend I'm glad our skipper took the decision to call the trip off.

Vobster may be boring but exciting is not necessarily what you want in diving.

I was still basking in the after glow of a good weekend on the Clyde. Weather was great, water was flat calm......


Bloody sobering post.

not being flipant, I almost feel guilty for enjoying myself, sounds more like carnage out there.

ray the skipper from sound divers advised us on the saturday that our diveing could be hampered by at least a force...5..and would not take us to the jel or scylla....so we cancelled.....cheers ray.
