It's all change in Egypt now with little enforcement of marine park rules. Ask your tour operator if your liveaboard crew are in the habit of fishing in the Marine Parks and make its banning a condition of your booking.

Hi.
The last time we went to the Red Sea on a liveaboard there were two toilets, the one downstairs a normal "Masher" sea toilet but the one on deck was with a pull flush and the crap just went over the side straight into the cut, the paper went into a receptacle to be emptied later.. After a very satisfying crap in between dives as we were tied into a buoy, I looked over the side to see the fish devouring my turds, they were metaphorically licking their lips , while at the other side of the boat the crew were fishing for their dinner, catching the same fish..
Any fish on the menu, was off mine.. I'll have the meat thank you.
ray.
Thinking about things and weighing it all up. Ok thought about it.. Bye.
The several times I have been in the Red Sea, the boat deck hands have fished, and they caught and ate it. I don't see any problem in this, as they are very low paid, and this forms part of the food they need. It's not like the place is devoid of fish!
But if you are talking trawlers, full of dead by catch, then I have an issue.
The odd tuna or other species is not an issue in the Red Sea, maybe try to stop other issues there that are far worse, I don't think deck crew fish for sharks!

So do you have proof it's live aboard crews? Have you seen them shark fish? If so, please let us know. Then I can support your call.
Sharks move around a whole lot, so I don't think they just stay in marine parks.

See November's Diver Magazine. I was under the boat when they hooked the sharks. One still has the bait in its mouth and it trailing (if you look carefully) around 20m of line and weights. I have revealed the name of the boat, the captain of which asked for me to delete my pictures when he heard I had them. No, they might not have been fishing for sharks. More likely they were trying to hook divers. Get with the programme, folks.
