Spot the DSMB!

The last dive on our recent trip to Normandy was on the wreck of the Lan Franc (50 mtrs), mid Channel in between the shipping lanes. I must admit I thought the gap between the lanes was a bit wider than it appeared to be when I surfaced with ships all over the place.

Us mere mortals using OC and doing accelerated deco were all back on the boat but Robin (aka Throbbin) the YBOD had to show off and spend about half a day for the dive and deco (well, it seemed like it).

Serves him right - we had eaten all the cakes and chocolate Hob Nobs by the time he got on board.

<font color='#0000FF'>What was the noise of the ships props like? You must have much faith on those shipping lanes!

I was on the dive boat standing behind the picture taker. The foreshortening effect of the lens makes the DSMB appear a lot closer to the tanker than it was. With the boats engines running I couldn't hear any noise from the tanker.

Robin said he heard something whilst on deco. I am sure he will eventually post his thoughts on this picture.

I must admit, at the time I got to the surface up the shot line, I was a bit concerned with the amount of traffic about.
In retrospect, the direction of the deco drift was along the length of the no shipping zone and parallel to the shipping lanes. I know that whilst hanging at 3 mtrs finishing deco + a bit for safety I looked like a flag as the current was starting to rip through. On the surface we had to let go of the shot and drift off after everyone else. The skipper new where we were but nonetheless I was glad I had my foldy flag with me and used for the first time in 5 years since I bought it.

Diver 1: Have we done enough deco yet?
Diver 2: *looks up* No, let's give it another minute or so, shall we..?

I heard the engines, but there was too much snot in the water to see anything. What does it sound like? WAGGAWAGGAWAGGAWAGGA, goes RIGHT through you. Still, that might have just been my bowels. Thumb covering the release button of the reel, for whatever good that was going to do . Cursing that I didn't have me slate handy to write my last will &amp; testament on.
Turns out he was plenty far away, but the skip was much more worried about you lot - much closer.
Still, what a dive eh? Lanfranc, top wreck. France, bollocks vis.
