Exclamation Global Warming

If I've understood it correctly most of southern england's gonna get flooded, so in anticipation of lots of new dive sites, can anyone tell me:-

the expected depth of Nelson's column? / the tower of london? / Brighton Pavillion?
the GPS co-ordinates for the ex-landmarks of the south?
the time of slack water in the former central London?

What sites would you want to dive?

Cheers, Paul

Isn't global warming supposed to be bollocks? Just something the media made up because they were bored one day? Seems to caught on, though.

Here we go:

On top of that, some experts believe it is impossible to be certain about how our climate will change as it can be very unpredictable. They also believe, the climate is supposed to change and it has done before. Many believe activities from humans can not be to blame for changes in the climate.

The Cambridge based European Science and Environment Forum released an American report about climate change in February 2002. The report concluded that projections of climate change by the %20" target="_blank">IPCC were based on unknown assumptions about the future and based on computer models which are not adequate for such a job.

Emeritus Professor of Biogeography at the University of London, Philip Stott, welcomed the report.

'In the UK, it is a media myth that there are only a few scientists who disagree with the view of 'global warming' on which the Kyoto Protocol is predicated.'

He went on to say;

'the authors [of the report, 'Climate Science and Policy: Making the Connection'] challenge the key antinomy at the heart of Kyoto - namely that climate is one of the most complex systems known, yet we claim we can manage it by trying to control a small set of factors, namely greenhouse gas emissions.'

Other scientists are less sceptical and it is the detail and severity of climate change which is frequently debated.
Edit: But wouldn't it be cool to dive HMS Victory?

Disclaimer: While I am science based this is not my area!

AIUI the major issue (and the point of Kyoto) is that the CO2 levels in the atmosphere are far higher than in the past warm periods. Yes, the sea levels, temperatures etc have fluctuated wildly in the past (i.e. ice ages and the formation of the North sea cutting UK off from Europe) and will do in the future as the planet continues to change. Within the lifetime of most of us though I very much doubt that anywhere will flood as the economic consequences of it doing so outweigh the cost of flood defences and flood management systems.

But still only a tiny fraction of the atmosphere?

Please note, that I'm not even science based and my real understanding of this is nothing. So don't take my comments as an excuse to generate lots of CO2!

Recently I've started to question whether climate change and global warming are a man made problem, or even real. I have much to find out!

I dont believe in it myself - its another horror story dreamt up by whoever will gain financially out of it,

If we are warming up its nature at work - routine cycles between ice age and whatever they call it when it gets warm,

i'm a bit sceptical myself! still cant see how the pitiful amount of 'greenhouse gasses' that we have produced since the industrial revolution, can compare against a volcano like mount st helens or tamboura.

It is my understanding i.e. some bloke told me, that Birmingham is considerably further above sea level than London, so when (not if) the flooding begins Birmingham will be the new capital.

We'll have to put up HRH and crew in the Villa grounds till a new palace is built, the Bull Ring will be the new home for Harrods and the nations new anthem will be titled 'Bostin Steve Austin', can't wait
