As inland practice sites go, it has no facilities, no shop, no toilets, no compressor, no surface cover, no ladders or trollies or pontoons, no pot, no signs...

Perfect! I really can't be bothered with places like Stoney and Crap'n'pay. I love Dorothea as a practice site. It teaches divers to be self-sufficient and to be responsible. There's no-one there to bail you out when it goes wrong except you and your buddy (if you have one, and no-one to hassle you if you don't).

It's also a lovely place and fascinating if you have a wander around the old workings. Use common sense, take away anything you bring with you (too many people treat it as a dumping ground), don't piss off the locals and remember it's a real environment where things can and will go wrong. Other than that enjoy it.

And one last thing... www.arrivealive.org.uk has details of all speed traps on the way!
