But with all those huge ripping currents, and huge surface chop that make it impossible to hold a 6m stop, and the boats that make it impossible to use a DSMB, surely that makes it unsuitable for training!?

Hmm I thought the whole Idea of an smb is that boats can avoid you while your on your stop/surfacing!
It would be unsuitable for a dry suit coarse though I guess.

Not much training goes on in the shipping lanes M8

There are a few shore dives around dover and some are OK. Selsea Pier is another OK bimble and the Vis can be quite good. Also look at Dive Eclips web site for trips to the far Mulbury at 10m deep max it is a lovley easy dive which I still enjoy.

Mixon hole is a great fun drift dive with loads of lobsters but you must be comfortable with a fast-ish drift.

Hope this helps

<font color='#810541'>Gatwick! Yes I know of a dive site you can get to from Gatwick.

It's called Bermuda. Only 6 hours from Gatwick, and on the way you can eat 3 times and watch 2 movies

<font color='#000080'>Tenerife .....and you only get one meal on the 4 hour flight and as airline food goes, that is the healthy option.

That was a subtle bit of spam if I've ever seen it. You'll be recommending a good Tenerife dive shop next. &nbsp;
