Is it one of the weather beacons. Used to measure sea state, wind speed etc..

If it is, then it was probably trashed by the latest Hurricane that went through the East Coast USA.

You mean an air gun for seismic measurements, but it doesn't look like one that I have ever seen before.

is oit anything to do with smugling drugs? i see a programme once were they towed things like this under the water filled with drugs. If the coastgaurd tried to pull them over they would cut the tow line and the object would just sink to the bottom getting rid of the evidance?
