hi there,

Can any one recommend a reputable company that specializes in diving for travel insurance?
Basically 5 weeks of cover for my divemaster course in far east..
Kit, camcorder, medical, legal and cancellations.
I am going to need it flying with aeroflot at Xmas.

Cheers
Mooseman

Try DAN (Divers Alert Network) or Dive Master insurance, both seem OK.

DAN (www.daneurope.org) provide medical insurance for members, but as far as I could make out from the literature, its remit extends to diving related injuries only, so you'll still need regular travel insurance.
You can take out DAN's "travel assist" (or whatever it is), but from what the nice lady at DAN told me, this is also medical insurance (extended to include non-diving circumstances), not travel insurance. So even if you did take out this option you'll still need insurance to cover your possessions, flights etc.
Join DAN anyway - it's a good cause.

If you are a home/mortgage owner check with your house insurers - I was/am covered up to a max of £3000 total loss + £700 (I thing) for a single item. The cover even extended to ditching kit in an emergency.

It is worth making the enquiry.
