You will need a bit more than just one book......

There are over 1000 wrecks on the Goodwin Sands alone, or so I have been told.

Probably the most comprehensive of works is the Lloyds Register Of Shipwrecks, which is several very thick volumes costing in the region of £50 each. These were available at along with a fanfare of trumpets a few years ago at a dive show and most are now only available second-hand.

Failing getting one of these for the area you are interested there are always the Diver Guides:- "Dive Kent", "Dive The South East" etc etc. I have found the ones that I have used to be very useful. And will include interesting reef and rock-formation dives also.

There is always your local dive club?? You will probably have to join to get the best information though!!

Regards
Good Hunting
Midnight

As Midnight, says the 'Dive ...' series are excellent.

Have a look at http://www.divernet.com/newshop/guideuk.shtml which has a list of the guides available - you can also buy them from there.

Think you will find that it takes many years to build up your own file on dives sites. Especially sea sites.

WEBsite are a very good source of information but not all the info is accurate.

Thanks for the info guys. Will keep an eye open for the books suggested. Shame there isn't a website with a comprehensive list of dive sites throughout britain. The ones i have seen don't seem to have enough info on the sites and how to find them exactly.

Richard Larns books from the Lloyds Register are coming to a website near you. However it is not a record of dive sites, but often the last recorded positions etc.

There are several sites around that give quite a lot of info, i find it best generally to shortlist a few wrecks by name and then websearch them. The Dive series of books are OK but many are described on hearsay, but they help.

The Divernet wreck tours are very usefull:- Divernet Wreck Tours

This site is rather good:- Pandora

As is this one which is developing:- Dive Site directory

Richard Larne's site which is starting up:- Shipwrecks

This one is more worldwide:- Shipwreck Central

This has the best photo's and the D's B's divers:- Deep Image

This is a new one as well:- BSAC SE Region

Enjoy your searching
