Spam spam spam spam.

I have had my business registered with the FPS and PPS for ages (F=fax P=phone PS=preference service) to try and stop bloody advertising faxes (in particular) and phone calls. I have to say all seems to have gone well and I hardly ever receive telemarketing faxes. Not quite as much sucess on the phone front BUT overall I am glad I registered.

I have just registered for the email PS. It will never stop SPAM altogether    but it may (or may not) cut the volume  down.
Have any of you YDers also registered and, if so, did you notice any reduction in SPAM?

Oh yes, I forgot to mention (thanks for indirectly remining me John) that the Preference Services are free of charge. The service works on the basis that, within the UK, telemarketing companies are obliged to refer to the register and exclude people on the list from their mailings etc.

Therein lies the problem in that unscrupulous companies don't bother and overseas companies are not affected. God only knows how they could try to police the email side of things.

Anyway, there are bound to be some scrupulous businesses out there so registering may help a bit. Also, you can report any companies that contact you when they shouldn't and they will "be dealt with".

I registered with the phone one - not that I get many phone calls, but I kept getting those sodding junk SMS messages, which really p1$$ed me off.

Haven't had any since!

Mine all seem to be from the states and 99% are offering me MORE INCHES or viagra, god if they knew how much I try and diet, why on earth would I want more.

What gets me my company address rarely appears it's always someone else, then when you try and remove they bounch back as un-recognised.

Fiona,
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Don't try and remove your address from the list. When you click on the link that should do this it registers with the spammer that your address is live. He then passes/sells the live addresses onto all his spamming friends.

Just delete it!

your not alone I get pretty much the same i would suggest getting some good spam software it does stop a lot, but not all of it.. &nbsp;
