Dartmouth diving

We have a trip planned for September based in Dartmouth. Can somebody who knows the area please point me in the direction of a friendly local dive shop who can arrange fills for us (10 OC divers needing lots of He and O2).

We might not have any land transport available so close to the jety/marina or whatever there is there would be good.

Also, any tips on good accomodation?

Thanks

Bob

Many years ago I used to spend every easter and summer in Dartmouth. I think I'm still wanted by the Harbour Master for speeding.

Anyway- Sept should be ok as it's after the Regatta but parking can be a royal PITA in Dartmouth. You could look at accom on the Kingswear side too as it's a short ferry ride over (go on the car ferry as a passenger- it's much prettier).

Dunno about fills- you could give MV Maureen a buzz and prod them gently.

If you want cheap accom there is a campsite at the top of the hill above Dartmouth.

We always took our own J's down that way as there weren't any local gas supplies - things may have moved on, but we used to get gas fills at DDRC which is a fair trek each way - take 2 sets of kit, drop off the empites and pick up the fresh ones.

Greg's pages at http://www.subaqua.co.uk/region/devon.html may have some more info.

Angry Dartmouth

Been going to Dartmouth twice a year recently but not aware of any gas supply in town.

Mike Rowley of Maureen is, as already suggested, a good person to call.

Try Ian Noble of Samuel Irvine 2 as well.

We had a hopeless time last August Bank Holiday. There was no He available and we had to Salcombe for nitrox where we got poor fills and low O2 levels.

I now have a Vision and two spare cylinders!

Which boat are you using or are you taking your own RIB?

Charlie

Brixham has air.
Nautique at Paignton do Nitrox. Used to do mix - not sure if Pete is still doing it. May be worth contacting him. Boat could pull into the harbour whilst you get your fills (& Ice cream shop next door...)
