| Advice required re diving at Red Sea Hello there, I've just qualified as an Open Water diver and am going on holiday in 3 weeks to Taba Heights over in Egypt. Has any-one dived over there, and can you recommend any good dive centres & locations for reefs / corals / fish ? Also best places to snorkel for the same ? Much appreciated. clownfish* ( Alan ) |

| Where will you be staying? There are two centres in TH Werner Lau and Red Sea Waterworld. WL are based at the Morgana Beach Resort and only really serve that Hotel. RSWW Are the main centre and own the only marina. I had a very good experience of them, the diving can be a bit samey compared to Sharm, but it is very quiet. I covered the sites in my Trip Report Snorkelling - either off you hotel house reef or get a boat up to Farûn Island. email me if you gave any further questions. HTH Dom

| I did my OW + AOW with RSWW in Taba, some great memories. Their website is www.redseawaterworld.com if you want to look at prices before you get there. I think all the hotels have their own little booth so you can book at the hotel instead of trapsing down to the actual centre. The day boats, like said before, are very good, though because there is only the one company, they can get a little cramped if you happen to go during a busy week. The dive sites are on a rotation on the boat IIRC, ask the captain and he should be able to point out a list. Whilst i was there, i stayed in the Hyatt Regency, they've got their own little jetty that drops you right off onto a reef for snorkling. As for excursions, Petra is a must, it will blow your mind away. Granted, boarder control is a real PITA, but once your in Jordan, they have some great guides who will really open your eyes to whats there. If you do go, find the old guy in one of the cafes in the valley who has the cockney accent, he's hilarious. Cairo is definatly good too, but the great piramid is a tad on the expensive side. Take lots of reading material or music, the coach journey is a bit on the long side. Other than that, it is quiet there, and if you fancy drinking buy what you want in the duty free before you leave, because the only other place to get booze without selling the car is Israel, and border control is aggrivating at best. For 3 weeks there, i think i'd have to fill up another suitcase, lol. |
