9 minutes without breathing!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4964488.stm
The current record for static apnea is 8 minutes 58 seconds.
The BBC reckon you can do without breathing for 15 minutes if you breathe pure O2 beforehand, which is what they imply Blaine will be doing.
The "don't try this at home" warning is very apt, people are stupid enough to try and it will all end up in tears.

Someone posted about this yesterday - and someone else said.....Blaine is an illusionist remember. And he's a twat. Did anyone ever see the interview he did with Eamon Homes? Big fat tosser. Blaine - although I don't know that I like Eamon Homes much either come to think about it.

Ha ha ha your last sentence - I don't know anyone who's got an enormous glass bowl to try that in - and anyone else daft enough to have a go's only going to try in the bath or something aren't they. Ha ha ha "it will all end up in tears." I don't think so.

If he's such an illusionist, i'd be dead impressed if after 4 minutes and 30 seconds someone punched him in the happy sacks, see how long the tw@ can hold his breath for then.

If he's going to spend a week in a goldfish bowl, do you think we could all bugger off on holiday, forget about him, and come back in two weeks to find him floating upside down on the surface.

He'd be a bugger to flush down the loo though..... and you'd never get one the same to replace him with before the kids notice....

Sorry if this is slightly too serious a point for this thread but you could quite easily kill yourself in the bath trying this. If you hyperventillate as people often do before attempting to hold their breath, they get rid of too much CO2, since the bodies reminder to breathe comes from CO2 build-up not lack of O2 they can then pass out before even feeling particularly out of breath. If tried in water, even a couple of inches (eg face down in a bath) as soon as they lose conciousness they drown.

In my view, that would end up with somebody in tears.

As I said, apologies if I'm just missing the joke, it has been a long day at work!
