A long drop.

A load of us from my club have been booked for a while to dive the SETT this Sunday. Then last week it got cancelled because the lift there was broken. A dissapointment, but on the other hand who wants to lug their kit up to the top by hand. Not me, that's for sure.

Anyhow, yesterday the lift got fixed and it was all back on.

A number of people had made different plans so there was much re-arranging to be done by the poor soul tasked with organising the day. All just sorted out by this morning and we are on again.

And then we aren't.

Apparently the MOD have, er, just mentioned that they have drained all the water out of it , making for a hell of a quick descent, with a sudden stop at the bottom, so it's all off. DIY and mowing the lawn for me on Sunday after all.

But it got me wondering, just out of curiosity really, how long would it take to empty and refill the thing? Almost as long as it takes me to fill the kids paddling pool I shouldn't wonder.

I suppose it depends if they remember to put the plug in when they re-fill it

And then heat it back up to its working temperature.

I wonder if there is a steam pipe network on the base. Superheated filing.

Hopefully they have some more sophisticated way of filling it than a leaky hose wonkily attached to the kitchen tap

My hose is neither leaky, nor wonkily attached, I'll have you know.

And another thing - where does all that water go when they empty it?

I hope they fill it before next weekend, I'm supposed to be doing a freediving course there.

There's a great big "sea" handily positioned next door, I suspect they siphon it out the window. Using buckets might take a little while!

I wonder if they will repaint the flaky mermaid, she was looking a little worn when we were there!
