Thumbs down Underbridge Leisure

6.55am this morning text message received saying "Sorry but have to cancel bouncy castle booking on saturday, changed mind its too far out of our way becuase of other bookings"

So I ring and leave voice mail asking for a call back.

Bloke rings back - Sorry we have a big even in Skirlagh (other side of Hull) so cant do your event.

I explain that is my event not big too - its for a chairty and potentially 400 people turning up. I explain that I have a day job, I haven't got time to ring round lots of other companies trying to find another castle. Its the height of summer and I have FOUR days to try and sort this out, as well as 400 other things.

He offers some numbers

I'm in the car driving to work so ask him to text them to me.

He says "I understand that you are disappointed"

I say "I'm not disappointed, I'm actually very angry"

He says, "Well you can find your own numbers then" and slams the phone down on me.

At no point in the conversation did I raise my voice (altho now I am screaming at anyone who will listen!)

It is important to note that this guy was getting paid FULL money for this booking - he was not giving us any discount on the fact that this was a charity event, the booking was being paid for by the Dive Station in Hull.

Rant over > Google search "Bouncy Castle Hire Hull"

I would be so tempted to take out a small advert in your local paper, "thanking" them for there level of service, by saying something like,
thanks very much to ???????????? bouncy castles, who could'nt be bothered to do my event, inspite of it being organised for xxx period of time, and gave me 4 days notice to find something else.

I recon that a small line advert would cost about £10 - £15, and i can't see how you would get into trouble for it as all the facts are true, and you are " thanking" them, but I'm damed sure that there booking would take a tumble. gits.

That's what i love about companies such as this - their level of commitment, honouring a contract and of course their exceptional customer service.

hugs Kath

Could you not argue you had a verbal contract and look to recover "lost earnings" from the event from them through the small claims court?
